The name is Asger Stage.

Asger Stage

Photo of the employee of the year in “Asger Stage - foto & video” the following years: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024.

Raised in the mountains of Denmark, in a small village called Ry — right next to one of Denmark’s highest mountains, Himmelbjerget (147 meters… Haters might call it a hill).

I developed a love for filmmaking early on. It all started in 5th grade, resulting in a bunch of absolutely awful short films. By 7th grade, as a nerdy 13-year-old, I invested in my first real camera — a Canon 7D paired with a Tamron 24-70mm lens. The short films improved slightly — but just slightly.

In 9th grade, as a still-nerdy 15-year-old, I won the local "Ry City: Photo of the Year" competition as the youngest participant in my hometown. This led to an Ipad Mini (which I sold on DBA) and a front-page article about me in the local newspaper, Midtjyllands Avis.

I thought I’d never reach such highs again… Maybe I was right. Who knows? I’ve been chasing those highs ever since.

As a result, I now stand at 2 meters tall — possibly making me one of the tallest cinematographers in Denmark.

In 2018, a year after graduating high school, a golden opportunity opened before my eyes. At 19, I was hired by Denmark’s largest media company, DR. From day one, I got hands-on with some of the biggest projects in the news department.

In my first year, I co-developed, shot, and edited the two biggest youth initiatives for the European Parliament election and the Danish parliamentary election: Mit Europæiske Jeg and Kandidattesten på tur med Esben Bjerre. If you know the news business, you know that elections are the Olympics of journalism.

I stayed at DR for almost two years before taking a big leap into the unknown as a freelance cinematographer…

Right when Covid19 hit.

What a shitty timing, actually…

Life moved on, and I landed on my feet. Since then, I’ve shot, edited, and graded for businesses of all sizes. From the smallest startups to major corporations like Novo Nordisk, Ørsted, BASF, Carlsberg, Danske Bank, Red Bull, Mos Mosh, Andel Energi, and many more.

I approach every job with the same enthusiasm and love for filmmaking as when I first picked up a camera at 11 years old. Now 26, I’ve been working full-time in this industry for the past eight years, and will stay till i go blind.

I have an extraordinarily strong work ethic and never compromise on my three core values: propriety, honesty, and sincerity. I always show up on time — usually with a smile — and strive to exceed expectations on every job. With high ambitions, I put in the hours and treat people with kindness.

My visual style is clean yet vibrant. I have experience across all genres, but my true passion lies in fiction. This passion has given me a strong instinct for storytelling. Not only am I skilled in cinematography, but I’m also a proficient editor and colorist. I can handle a production from A to Z, whether as a one-man army or with a large crew.

My love for filmmaking is huge.
Hope to hear from your.

Sincerely
Asger Stage
